Yasuko Bockman

Yasuko Bockman is a life-long artist who loves to capture the mood and atmosphere of everyday life.

She grew up in a small town Hokkaido in Japan, surrounded by the ocean, hills and pastures. In the late 1980′s she worked as an Assistant Cartoonist and learned how to structure cartoons and comic story-telling.

​

In the late 1990's, she moved to Tokyo and started working as a TV & Movie Animation Background Painter for 10 years. She learned creative ways to express beauty, feelings and emotions through her work in Tokyo.

"Those days were a struggle and challenging, but it was the most fulfilling, precious time for learning art in my life. Painting enabled me to express my emotions, feelings, and even stress and frustrations. Just like people write down their thoughts as therapy, I found painting is a great therapy for me."

At the studio in Tokyo, she had the privilege of working as one of the Background Artists on the Dreamworks animated movie Joseph: King of Dreams. This experience inspired and encouraged her to grow in her art skills.

With every painting, Yasuko wants to lift people's spirits with hope and encouragement. As an artist, the most rewarding times are when she captures the feelings of love, happiness, and passion.

Yasuko has lived in the US raising her daughter for 11 years, and still enjoys nature, hiking with her family, and working as a freelance artist. You'll find her  working on portraits, landscapes, murals, book covers, or capturing memories at live events.
